Oosterdiep
At least eight turtles counted asleep on one night dive
The Oosterdiep is a wreck off Anguilla lying in about 24 m (80 ft) of water, her bow pointing in toward Sandy Ground. She is dived at night as well as by day: after dark, turtles settle on and around the hull to sleep, and a single night dive here has counted at least eight of them.

The dive
The wreck sits in about 24 m (80 ft) with the bow aimed back toward Sandy Ground. On it lies the skeleton of a VW Beetle, now recognisable only as a car, while stingrays rest in the sand nearby and garden eels rise all around. The night dive is the reason to come: as the light fails, turtles rest on the wreck and on the seabed around it, and one night eight or more were found sleeping there.
