Bel Torrente Cavern
Surfacing inside air chambers in the rock
Bel Torrente is a cavern on the Gulf of Orosei coast where divers visit the first part of the cave and surface inside its air chambers. Fresh water running down from the mountains meets the sea inside, so the dive within 12 m also shows a halocline, open to Open Water divers.

The dive
The entrance lies at 8 m and leads into a large tunnel. Divers visit only the first metres of the cavern, within 12 m, and pass rock formations on the way in.
Inside, they rise to the surface in the first of three air-filled chambers to see the formations above the water. In the water below, the halocline shows where the denser salt water from the sea meets the fresh water coming down from the mountains.

Season follows Cala Gonone & the Gulf of Orosei: Mid-May to the end of October is the main season; August brings the warmest water.
