Coral slope to 25 m, five minutes from the Kusu jetty
A gradual coral slope five minutes by boat from Kusu Island, running down to 25 m with full coral coverage and a big variety of corals in the shallows. It is one of the closest boat sites to the Nabucco Spice Island Resort, and the operator warns that strong current is possible, so on a moving day it is dived as a drift along the slope.

The dive
The boat run is short: five minutes from Kusu Island and you are over the site. You drop onto the top of a gradual slope covered in coral and follow it down; the incline is gentle rather than a wall, so depth builds slowly and the reef stays in view the whole way. The coral cover continues to 25 m, the deepest point the operator describes, while the fullest coverage and the widest variety of corals are in the shallows.
Because strong current is possible here, the guide checks the water before the descent and sets the direction of the dive to run with it rather than against it; on a moving day the dive becomes a drift along the slope. The return is up the slope into the shallows, where the coral coverage is fullest, for the safety stop before the boat picks up on the surface.
