The Kyokko is a ship sunk in 2025 as an artificial reef on Banco de Afuera, further offshore than the Cristo Rey park, in 28 m of water. It was the first hull sent to the bank, part of a move away from the murky water close to the coast towards a bank with better visibility.

The dive
Boats from the city's nautical clubs run out to Banco de Afuera, further offshore than the Cristo Rey park, where the Kyokko was sunk in 2025 in 28 m of water. It was the first ship sent to the bank. The earlier wrecks lie close to the coast, where visibility is limited, and the move offshore was made in search of better visibility.
The seabed around the wreck is bare sand, and placing a hard structure on it gives marine life somewhere to shelter at once. The ship is the start of a plan for a new underwater park, with another fishing vessel already prepared for sinking.
