Pelican Cove
Pelicans diving into clouds of minnows
Pelican Cove is a sheltered inlet between 3 and 12 m (10 to 40 ft). In the right season it fills with minnows thick enough to block the view, and pelicans plunge in from above to feed on the bait fish.

The dive
The dive stays in the shallow, sheltered water of the inlet, from 3 m (10 ft) down to 12 m (40 ft). At the right time of year swarms of minnows close in around divers, and pelicans dive-bomb the bait fish from the surface.
