Haapiti is an ocean dive on a gently sloping drop-off outside the barrier reef. Shallow craters in the reef hold a more varied fauna than the slope around them, and blacktip and lemon sharks are common along the drop-off.

The dive
From the mooring at about 9 m (30 ft) the dive follows a gently sloping drop-off down to 30 m (100 ft). The shallow craters along it are where the fauna is richest, narrow canyons cut into the reef nearby, and blacktip and lemon sharks move along the slope.
