La Conque
A sheltered 7 m dive beside the Deux Frères rocks

La Conque is the shallow dive at the Cap d'Agde headland, in front of the beach beside the two rocks known as les Deux Frères. It is 7 m deep and protected from the wind, which is why it is the site used for first dives, and octopus, congers and nudibranchs live in the rock under it. There is no depth here to plan around.

The dive
La Conque is in front of the beach at the Cap d'Agde headland, beside the two rocks the town calls les Deux Frères, and Scubago's own description of it is a shallow site protected from the wind — which is what makes it the ground the centres use for teaching. Seven metres is as deep as it gets, so the dive lasts as long as the group's air and attention, and the light stays good the whole way through.
The dive itself is a slow search of shallow rock. Octopus are the reliable find, in holes and under ledges; congers hold in the deeper cracks; nudibranchs are on the faces for anyone who has been shown what to look for. For a first dive it does the job — nothing to descend to, nothing to plan around, and enough in 7 m of water to fill a tank looking at it.

Season follows Cap d'Agde: Abyss Plongée opens March to December; the sea averages 12 °C in February and 22 °C in August, and the Tramontane or Mistral can stop the boats in any month.
