A wartime wreck at 40 m with boxes of anti-aircraft heads at the bows

Area photo: Bernard Picton · CC BY 4.0

The Germaine is a Second World War casualty off the north coast of Cornwall, lying in 40 m at low water about 15 minutes by boat from the Padstow side. She is well collapsed, with only the boilers and engine standing high, and the whole dive is spent at depth, so it is for divers trained for 40 m.

The dive

The Germaine lies in 40 m at low water and is well collapsed; only the boilers and engine stand high. The propeller is still in place, and divers can follow the propeller shaft back to the engine. At the bows lie several boxes of anti-aircraft heads, and portholes still turn up from time to time.
