Caesar's Rocks is a cluster of five pinnacles that rise from 30 m to within 5 m of the surface, named after a local village chief. Current sweeps the towers and feeds the soft corals and the sea fans growing off them, and the rock is cut through with passages, including a Y-shaped one that takes light in from both ends.
Also known as Ceasar's Rock, Cesar's Rock.

The dive
The five towers rise from 30 m to about 5 m below the surface, so the dive is worked in the vertical: down the flank of one pinnacle, along its base, then up and across to the next as gas allows. Soft corals cover the walls and enormous sea fans filter-feed off the sides, the same fans that give shelter to lionfish. When the current is running the corals are at their most open, feeding on what sweeps past.
The passages are the reason divers come back. One pinnacle carries a three-way swim-through with walls shrouded in golden soft corals and fans, and another has a Y-shaped passage straight through it, with light pouring in from both ends and silhouetting the corals inside. A coral-lined tunnel runs along the site at around 15 m. On the rock itself, look for blue ribbon eels, nudibranchs, longnose hawkfish, trumpetfish and blennies, with octopus in the cracks, reef sharks working the rock and schooling tuna and the occasional turtle passing the towers.

Season follows Beqa Lagoon: Bull shark season runs May to September and tigers are likeliest June to August; in the November to April wet season, bad weather can cancel the shark dive.
Know before you go
- The pinnacles need flat seas and a slack tide to be safe to dive, so the trip tends to be called on the morning rather than booked ahead.
