The biggest wreck in Montenegro, an Austro-Hungarian steamer by Mamula
An Austro-Hungarian cargo steamship lying next to Mamula island on the Dobrec peak, and the biggest wreck in Montenegro open to scuba divers. Built in Trieste in 1907, it sank in 1912 and now rests at 40 m, a deep dive reserved for divers trained for that depth.

The dive
The steamer lies at 40 m beside Mamula island on the Dobrec peak. The hull is 45.4 m long, a former cargo ship that carried machine oil and briquettes for steam engines under the Austro-Hungarian flag.

Tihani was built in 1907 at the Stabilimento Tecnico Triestino shipyard in Trieste. From 1908 it sailed under the flag of the Austro-Hungarian Empire as a cargo boat, carrying machine oil and briquettes for steam engine machines. In 1912, on its last journey, it struck the Arza peak and sank, and the wreck now lies next to Mamula island on the Dobrec peak.
