A large sea cave on the Luštica peninsula, known locally as Plava špilja, and one of the most visited dive spots in Montenegro. Its mouth opens at the surface, so divers and snorkellers share the same spacious, shallow chamber, and the cave is dived after dark as well as by day.

Also known as Plava špilja, Plava spilja.

The dive

The way in is through the entrance at the waterline, straight into a large chamber. The interior is spacious and mostly shallow, deep enough for scuba divers yet within reach of people who come with just a mask and snorkel, while the deeper parts of the dive run from 7 m down to 25 m.

After dark the cave takes on a different character: octopuses, small fish and other nocturnal creatures appear, unlike on daytime dives, and the cave is dived at night as well as by day.
