The dive
A large sand gully separates a shallow pinnacle, which comes very close to the surface in places, from a deeper one, and steep drop-offs fall away from them to a bottom at about 26 m. The reef holds a large crayfish population that hides in the kelp. Red-bait grows thickly, with featherstars, sea fans, wall sponges and nudibranchs all along the reef, and klipfish, rocksuckers and Knysna sandgobies live among them.

Season follows Hermanus: Boats run year-round, weather permitting, so no month stands out; June to December adds southern right whales seen from shore.
