Cala Ferriol
A wide tunnel entered at 16 m, out to a 30 m bottom

One of the operator's most-dived points on this stretch, for the number of routes it offers rather than a single feature. The boat moors west of the large island, the wall drops to a wide tunnel with its entrance at 16 m, and the crossing comes out east over a bottom at 30 m before the way back around the island.

The dive
The boat moors to the west of the large island, and the wall below it leads straight to the feature: a wide tunnel whose entrance is at 16 m, crossing the rock to come out on the east side over a bottom of 30 m. The operator calls this one of its most popular dives for the variety of routes that can be put together here, not for any one thing you swim to.
Past the tunnel are grouped blocks where all kinds of wildlife live, and the return circles the island. The pinnacle side starts from the surface and descends to 26 m, and holds a cave with crustaceans, nudibranchs and scorpionfish in it. The full span of the site is 4 to 30 m, so the last part of the dive can be kept shallow whichever route you take.

Season follows Costa Brava: Water runs from about 13 °C in February to 25 °C in July and August; no L'Escala centre publishes closing months, and the tramuntana can keep boats in port in any month.
Know before you go
- The point is unprotected from passing ships, so keep a marker up and listen for traffic before surfacing away from the boat.
