Kablinac is a small rock off Jezera, at the eastern edge of the Kornati diving area, with a wall that wraps it from southwest to southeast and carries yellow gorgonians on one face and red ones on the other. The dive opens in the shallows over sea grass and a sandy plateau, and the wall itself only begins at the plateau's edge in roughly 20 to 25 m of water.

The dive

The dive starts south of a small rock next to Kablinac, in shallow water where the bottom is sea grass. A few fin-strokes across it brings you to a sandy plateau, and that plateau is the marker for everything else: the wall begins at its far edge, in roughly 20 to 25 m of water. The swim out is transit rather than sightseeing, so it is worth covering it steadily and arriving at the edge with gas in hand.

From the plateau the wall wraps the island from southwest to southeast, and you take it with your right shoulder to the rock. The gorgonians sort themselves by side as you go: yellow ones along the face you are following, red ones out to your left. Turn on gas or time, retrace the wall in the other direction, then cross the plateau and the sea grass back into the shallows to finish the stop.

Season follows Kornati Islands: The park licenses diving Apr–Oct, warmest Jul–Sep; the bura wind closes the exposed outer walls at short notice.

Know before you go

  • The top of the wall is already at 20-25 m, so the deepest part of the dive comes early: check gas over the sea grass rather than after you reach the rock.
