Ungjin Dive11 Resort
Boulders, low reef walls and kelp a short swim from the resort beach
The Ungjin site is the house reef of the Dive11 Resort, a training centre on the Pohang stretch of the East Sea coast. It is a shallow, temperate shore dive over rocky reef and kelp, and its gentle beach entry makes it a preferred site for open water certification courses and refresher training.
Also known as Dive11 Resort, Ungjin.

The dive
The entry is a gentle one from the resort's beachfront over a sandy bottom, which gives way to rocky reef within a short swim. The reef has the rounded boulders and low walls of the Pohang coast, which form sheltered pockets, and kelp forests fill the shallower sections, their fronds turning the light golden.
Rockfish hover motionless above the kelp, their camouflage making them hard to pick out, and nudibranchs turn up in variety among the encrusting growth on the rock faces. The bottom reaches about 12 m, and visibility usually runs 5 to 10 m, reaching 15 m in settled weather.
