Dovns Klint
Chalk deposits and flatfish under the cliffs of southern Langeland
Dovns Klint is a shallow shore dive at the southern tip of Langeland, where the Langelands Belt meets the Baltic Sea. It is rarely dived, though its varied seabed of chalk deposits, gravel, rocks and eelgrass holds many large flatfish and a wealth of small creatures in the seaweed, and good-sized cod come close to shore.

The dive
The water reaches 2.5 m soon after the entry, and the dive runs at 5 to 7 m over chalk deposits, patches of gravel, medium-sized rocks and sandy areas with eelgrass. Crabs and gobies crowd the shallows, and further out the seaweed belts give way to sand and gravel where the large flatfish feed.
A close look at the seaweed turns up shrimps, gobies, butterfish, sticklebacks and pipefish, and summer is the richest time. Good-sized cod also come close to shore, and an evening or night dive gives the best chance of meeting them. The current is rarely strong near the beach but builds further from land.

Know before you go
- Anglers fish here around the clock in summer and leave lost tackle on the bottom; mark the dive position clearly.
