Gentle coral slope to an 18-metre sand bottom, no current

Area photo: TMbux · CC BY-SA 3.0

In the bay next door to Juara, ten minutes north by boat, a gentle coral slope rolls into the sandy bottom of the bay at 18 metres. Rock features and sand patches break up the shallows, and no current is recorded here, which makes it an easy, unhurried dive and a straightforward one to navigate.

The dive

Ten minutes north of Juara Bay, in the bay next door, the dive runs down a gentle coral slope that rolls into the sandy bottom of the bay at eighteen metres. It is a simple site to navigate: keep the slope on one shoulder on the way out and reverse it on the way back, and the depth changes slowly enough that the profile looks after itself.

No current is recorded here, which changes how the dive gets used — you can stop, hold position and look at something rather than spending the dive covering ground. Rock features and sand patches break up the shallows, and those edges between rock, coral and open sand are where the site has its variety. Come back up the slope and finish the safety stop over the shallow reef.
