Puerto Cucharita
Tunnels through algae-covered plateaus crowded with starfish and crabs
Puerto Cucharita is a bay on the Beagle Channel near Bahía Ensenada, reached by a short boat ride. Underwater it is a landscape of high algae-covered plateaus cut by tunnels, and divers go for the swim-throughs and the small life packed into them.

The dive
The dive crosses high plateaus blanketed in algae and threads through the tunnels between them, reaching as deep as 35 m. Starfish, crabs, fish and anemones crowd the rock along the way, so the tunnel walls are as much the point as the open plateau tops.
