Trident Wreck

The former flagship of the Barbados coast guard

The Trident is the former flagship of the Barbados coast guard, scuttled in Carlisle Bay Marine Park in April 2016 after 28 years of service. She lies deeper than the older wrecks of the bay, between 6 and 21 m (20 and 70 ft), and was placed to settle near two other hulls.

Also known as Trident, MV Trident.

The dive

Double-barrelled 60 mm guns on the bow make the best photographs, and the hull is easy to penetrate for divers trained in wreck diving. Large tarpon, snapper and barracuda are more likely here than elsewhere in the bay, and from the wreck the dive can carry on into Carlisle Bay to other wrecks and coral.

The Trident entered service with the Barbados Coast Guard on 27 February 1982, after sailing out from England, and served as its flagship until she was decommissioned on 26 April 2009. Stripped and cleaned, she was towed into Carlisle Bay Marine Park and scuttled on the morning of 28 April 2016, placed to settle near two other wrecks so that the three form a triangle.
