An Auter
Labyrinths, overhangs and canyons in one shallow rock dive
An Auter is a rock dive off the Quiberon peninsula that runs from 5 to 18 m. Its relief breaks into labyrinths, overhangs, drop-offs and canyons, so a single dive crosses several kinds of terrain. Gorgonians, kelp and elephant-ear sponges grow on the rock, and bass, ballan wrasse, pouting, mullet and spider crabs live among it.

The dive
The rock begins at about 5 m and the deepest ground lies at 18 m. Between those depths the relief changes from labyrinths to overhangs, short drop-offs and canyons, so the dive is a tour of the rock's shapes rather than a run along a single wall.
