Cathedral is a Bequia reef dive on a steep slope that runs from the shallows down to sand. The direction of the dive is chosen on the day from the prevailing current, so it can be swum either way along the reef.

The dive

The reef begins at 5 m (15 ft) and slopes steeply down to the sandy sea floor, with a maximum depth of 30 m (100 ft). There is no fixed direction for the dive: divers follow the slope whichever way the prevailing current favours on the day. Spiny lobster shelter under the coral heads, and barracuda stalk the reef edge.
