Sargo's Rock

A wall on the south side of the Peñón de Ifach where rockfall from the cliff has piled boulders into a jumbled bottom, with the scattered remains of an old fishing boat on the seabed at 26 m. Named for the sargos, silver sea bream, that hang in big shoals around the rocks and crevasses.

The dive
Sargo's Rock is on the south face of the Peñón, dived by boat like the other sites around the rock. The dive works along a wall where rocks fallen from the cliff above have built up into broken, uneven ground, and the route follows that topography rather than a flat reef. The fish give the site its name: sargos, the silver sea bream, hang in big shoals around the boulders and in the crevasses between them, and they are the constant company of the dive.
The deepest published feature is what is left of an old fishing boat, scattered across the seabed at 26 m. It is debris rather than a wreck to swim through: no name, date or cause of loss is published for it, so treat it as a point of interest at the bottom of the profile before working back up the wall for the shallower part of the dive and the safety stop.

Season follows Costa Blanca: Dived all year, but the water sits near 14 °C from January to March and the season is treated as starting in spring; peak-season boat traffic closes some cave surfacing.

Is there a wreck at Sargo's Rock?+
Not a named one. The remains of an old fishing boat lie scattered on the seabed at 26 m; there is no published vessel name, date or cause of sinking, so it is best thought of as debris at the bottom of the dive.
