Plage du Kador
The storm-wrecked ruins of a breakwater, a maze of caves beside Morgat port

Plage du Kador is the small beach beside Morgat port on the Crozon peninsula, reserved for diving and swimming. The Morgat dive centre uses it for first breaths underwater, refresher dives and Niveau 1 training, and the shallow bottom of the little bay is rich in life.

The dive
Divers walk in from the beach to the ruins of the breakwater, which rest in the little bay in 10 m of water at high tide, so the depth on the day follows the tide. The tumbled structure forms a maze of caves and rugged relief, colonised by a cross-section of the bay's life, including discreet species such as the slipper lobster. The centre uses it for first bubbles, try-dives and refresher dives, and for the Niveau 1 training sessions.
Background
In the winter of 1969/1970 work began on a breakwater in the Anse du Kador to shelter the port from winter swells. A storm destroyed the structure while it was still being built, and its ruins have stayed on the bottom of the bay.

Season follows Crozon Peninsula & the Iroise Marine Park: Morgat dives from April to November and no month stands out; nothing says the boats run from December to March.
