Hoi Ha Wan is a bay at the north of the Sai Kung Peninsula inside Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park, and one of the best coral sites in Hong Kong that can be reached by road. The dives run from 5 to 10 m, which makes the bay a regular choice for training dives, newly certified divers and night dives.
Also known as Hoi Ha, Jone's Cove.

The dive
The coral north of the small jetty starts among the rocks at 1 to about 5 m and wraps around the little peninsula into the next bay, patchy in places but busy with large anemones and clownfish. It makes an interesting night dive. Divers should keep off the coral until their buoyancy is under control.
The two Hoi Ha Islands at the northern tip of the bay go a little deeper, to 10 m, with coral on their rocky shores and patches of soft coral. Visibility ranges from 2 to 10 m.

Season follows Hong Kong: May and June are the best months; algae bloom and wind cut visibility from July to September.
Know before you go
- The bay is quite exposed, so currents and swell build in rough weather; an easterly wind normally stirs the water up.
- Gill nets lie across the area, many of them discarded on the bottom.
- Line fishermen usually crowd the small jetty, and rented row boats move about the bay, so keep clear of the jetty and look up before surfacing.
