Seahorses among the seagrass beds of a quiet lagoon

Marsa Abu Galawa is a bay with a tranquil seagrass lagoon, an eel garden and a hard-coral slope at the edge of the drop-off. Divers go for the delicate seahorses that live in the seagrass and for the deeper slope beyond.

The dive
Delicate seahorses live among the seagrass beds in the lagoon. At about 14 m an eel garden sways over the sand, and beyond it hard corals cover the slope at the edge of the drop-off, which runs down to 35 m.

Season follows Hurghada & El Gouna: Diving runs all year; the seas settle from March to November and are calmest in summer, while February brings the coolest water.
