A cargo ship turned German blockade-breaker, sunk off the ferry harbour

The Sperrbrecher is a former cargo ship that served as a German Sperrbrecher, or blockade-breaker, a ship that sailed ahead of convoys to clear a safe passage through minefields. It sank off Île de Groix and now lies at 20 to 23 m off Port-Tudy, the island's ferry harbour.

Also known as Sperrbrecher 134, Falke.

The dive

The wreck sits off Port-Tudy on a seabed between 20 and 23 m, just past the Niveau 1 limit. The dive is on the hull of the former cargo ship, which went down as Sperrbrecher 134 under the name Falke.
