Coco Beach

Everything here starts from the beach and the descent is easy, which is what makes the site work for beginners and technical divers on the same day. To the north, two caves sit in 3 m of water. To the south there is a platform at about 5 m, described as ideal for beginners, and it is the natural place to shake out a buddy pair before anyone goes anywhere deeper.

Past the platform the bottom drops away and runs out to sand at 36 m, which is the ground the technical and extended-range divers come for. Treat it as a separate dive plan rather than an extension of the shallow one. Stingrays, white ribbon eel, sweetlips, clownfish and parrotfish have all been recorded here, so the shallow ground is worth a full dive of its own rather than a swim-through on the way out.

The site is also used for night diving, and the shallow features are what carry it: the caves, the platform and the reef around them all sit in water you can dive on a single tank without touching the deep ground at all. Come back to the same beach you walked in from, hold the safety stop over the platform if you have been deep, and keep the exit in mind on a night dive when the shoreline gives you fewer references.
