Smaragden
A boat scuttled in 2012, five minutes out from Jönköping harbour
Smaragden is a small boat scuttled in southern Vättern in 2012, one of only two vessels sunk on purpose at this end of the lake. It sits a few minutes by boat from Jönköping harbour, and it suits Open Water divers who already have a few boat dives behind them or who go down with a divemaster.
Also known as Vraket Smaragden.
Where it is and how deep
No published position for this site — the map shows Lake Vättern and its other sites; operators know the mooring.
The dive
The dive is on a single hull about 12 m long, resting on the lake bed at 14 m. There are small details on the wreck worth a close look or a photograph, and divers trained for it can swim through the hull, though the space inside is very tight.

Know before you go
- The hull can at times be sensitive to touch, and contact can leave poor visibility around the boat.
