Punta Gines is a lava reef five minutes by boat from Marina Rubicon off Playa Blanca, running east to west and dived as a multilevel: the top of the reef sits at around 12 metres and the bottom part reaches 20. Angel sharks, moray eels, rays, bream, bass and barracuda are all recorded on it, which is a lot of variety for a short run out of the marina.

The dive
The reef runs east to west and is dived as a multilevel rather than at one depth. You descend onto the top of the lava, which sits at around 12 metres, and follow the formation along its length; the bottom part of the reef reaches 20 metres, so the deeper leg is short and the group works back up onto the top of the rock for the rest of the dive.
The species list mixes things on the rock with things over it: moray eels in the lava, angel sharks and rays, bream and bass around the reef, and barracuda recorded here as well. Nothing on the site takes you past 20 metres, so bottom time is decided by gas rather than by a computer, and the shallow reef top makes a straightforward place to finish the dive.
