The dive
The Magdalena María II was sunk as the fifth boat in the Parque Submarino Las Grutas and settled at 28 m, on a stretch of seabed that held only sand before the sinking. The hull stands about five storeys tall, so there is a lot of structure to see on a single dive.
At 45 m long and 10 m across the beam, the boat was the largest in the park when it was sunk. Before the sinking it was stripped of engines, fuel, oil, batteries and cables and cleaned by hand over the whole surface.
