Tian Xiang
The coast's newest wreck, scuttled in 2015 at 45 m
Area photo: Diego Delso · CC BY-SA 4.0
The Tian Xiang was sunk off Flic en Flac in June 2015 as an artificial wreck for diving, and the dive centre calls it the newest shipwreck along this coast. It is located at a depth of 45 metres, past recreational limits, so it is a planned deep dive rather than part of a standard two-tank boat trip.
Where it is and how deep

The dive
At 45 metres the dive is a descent, a short look and an ascent; there is no roaming at that depth, and turn times and gas reserves are fixed before anyone kits up. Nothing is published about the vessel's size, its type or how it lies on the bottom, so the briefing is where the shape of the dive comes from rather than any published plan of the wreck.
What is on record is the sinking, the date and the depth, and nothing about the interior or the terrain around it, so plan it as an external dive unless your guide and your own training say otherwise. Forty-five metres leaves only a few minutes of no-stop time, which is why it does not appear on a general boat schedule alongside the shallower sites.

Season follows Mauritius: Cyclone season (Jan-Mar) can disrupt trips and cloud visibility; the trade-wind months of Apr-Nov give steadier, clearer conditions.
Know before you go
- At 45 metres no-stop time is measured in a few minutes and narcosis and gas consumption both bite hard: this needs deep or technical training and a planned ascent.
