Porros Sur
A wall corner on the north coast where the big groupers sit

Porros Sur is the wall on the south side of the Illa dels Porros, off the north coast. The base of the wall sits at about 12 to 15 metres and below it a hillside of posidonia runs down to 40. The dive follows the south wall to the corner where it turns onto the north side, and that corner is where the fish stack up.

The dive
The dive runs along the south wall of the island, with the base of the wall at about 12 to 15 metres and a hillside of posidonia dropping away below it to 40. Most of the dive is worked along the wall itself rather than down the slope, and the route carries on until the wall turns the corner that gives access to the north side of the island — the point the dive is really planned around.
That corner concentrates the life. Large groupers hold on the rock, with schools of barracuda, amberjack and dentex over it, moray eels back in the cracks and nudibranchs on the wall for anyone prepared to slow down and look. Out in the blue off the corner, tuna and eagle rays pass, which is the reason to turn away from the wall every so often on the way round rather than staring at it.
