The dive
The Chickasaw lies in 21 m (70 ft) of water near the SAB buoy off the entrance to St. Andrews Bay, a spot the local charter boats know. The tug is 33 m (107 ft) long with a beam of 6 m (20 ft), a small hull next to the 56 m (185 ft) Black Bart and USS Strength, the supply ship and minesweeper also dived off Panama City Beach.
The hull is steel, built in Pensacola, Florida, in 1908. Little else is published about the wreck: no source found gives how or when the tug sank, its condition on the bottom, the current or the marine life, so the dive is best planned with the charter crews who run boats to it.
