Wayne's World is a mid-depth reef averaging 20 m with 24 m at its deepest, reached by boat off the surf launch. The rock holds black-cheek and honeycomb moray eels, scorpionfish, lionfish and pipefish, with frogfish and fire coral on the reef and rays passing over it.

The dive
The boat goes out through the shore break and drops you onto a reef that averages 20 m and reaches 24 m at its deepest. That is a working mid-depth profile: enough bottom time to move along the rock properly, not so much that you can dive it aimlessly, so the usual pattern is to go down onto the deeper ground first and finish over the shallower reef.
This is a site for looking rather than covering distance. Black-cheek and honeycomb morays sit in the cracks, scorpionfish hold still against the rock, lionfish hang under the ledges and pipefish work the smaller structure, with frogfish on the reef for anyone who slows down enough to find them. Fire coral grows here too, so watch what you brush against. Rays come over the reef, so the occasional look up off the rock pays.

Know before you go
- Scorpionfish sit motionless against the rock and lionfish hang under the ledges: keep hands and knees off the reef and watch where you settle.
