El Venado

A wall dropping from the bay's edge to a rock and sand floor

El Venado is a bay near Pucusana, a little further out by boat than El Chuncho. A wall runs down its side, and the floor below is split between a rocky bottom and a sandy one. Divers come for the wall, which takes the dive deeper than El Chuncho and its kelp forest, down past the 18 m that bounds that site.

Also known as Venado.

The dive

Divers pick up the wall at 8 m and follow it down, reaching as deep as 25 m at its foot. The bay has two kinds of bottom, one rocky and the other sandy, so the dive moves between rock and open sand below the wall.
