The dive

Pixie Rock lies off Manuel Antonio National Park, where the underwater environments are of volcanic origin, and the dive stays between 6 and 12 m (20 to 40 ft). There is almost no current on the site, so the dive runs at an easy pace around the rock rather than as a drift. Angelfish, trumpetfish and jacks are the fish to look for, among plenty of marine vegetation.

The site suits less experienced divers while still offering some challenge, and its almost current-free water sets it apart from most diving near the park, which has mild current with strong surge. Visibility follows the rain: two river mouths lie close by, so green-season rain can cut it to about 4 to 10 m, while the dry season from December to April brings about 7 to 22 m.
