Granate

Granate lies within Tayrona National Park, about 25 minutes by boat from Taganga, and the dive is built around a coral formation known locally as El Cantil de Granate, cantil being the Spanish word for a bluff or rock face. The wall begins in around two metres of water on a shallow shelf and runs down past 25 metres, so the site works as a drift along the face rather than a fixed-depth dive. A dive-centre blog puts the overall depth range at 5 to 30 metres.

Partway down the wall sits a small cave at about 6 metres, and a Santa Marta tourism operator's site describes a submerged statue of an angel further along the route, a landmark local operators use to orient the dive rather than a wreck in its own right. Brain coral covers much of the face, and reef fish and lobsters work the cracks and ledges around it.

Current across the wall is moderate rather than mild, which is what pushes the site out of beginner territory despite the shallow start. A 2023 diver's report recorded 80 feet (24 metres) of visibility here and what the diver called 'spectacular' staghorn coral. The same current and the cave partway down make Granate a regular choice for night dives out of Taganga, when torches pick out life that stays hidden by day.
