Massive, undamaged hard-coral formations off Pulau Tinggi
Area photo: Wolfgang Ahlmer · CC BY 4.0
A hard-coral reef beside Pulau Tinggi, made up of massive, undamaged coral formations with a myriad of creatures hiding inside them. It is an easy, shallow drift, and schools of yellowback and double-striped fusiliers keep the reef busy.

The dive
The current decides the direction: the dive starts either at the eastern tip and drifts westwards along the reef, or the other way round, and when it is timed well there is no current at all. The reef stays within 10 m. Schools of yellowback and double-striped fusiliers crowd the coral, and on the sandy floor between two of the formations a large black whiptail stingray often lies resting.
