Rosemond's Trench
Finger coral with valleys, a tunnel and a chimney

A shallow site on St. Lucia's leeward coast, built on coral shaped like the fingers of a small hand with valleys and trenches running between them. Maximum depth is around 11 m, and a small tunnel leading into a chimney gives the dive its one piece of overhead. Seahorses, frogfish and turtles are all on the list here.

The dive
The ground here is coral shaped like the fingers of a small hand, with valleys and trenches running between the ridges. The dive follows those channels rather than a single contour: you drop into one, work along it, cross a ridge and pick up the next. Maximum depth is around 36 ft / 11 m, so the whole thing sits in bright water and the tank lasts.
The one structural feature is a small tunnel that leads into a chimney. It is short and shallow, but it is still an overhead, so it is taken one diver at a time with fins kept off the coral either side. Around it the site is a critter dive: seahorses, frogfish, turtles and many species of tropical fish are all recorded here, which is what the shallow depth and the long bottom time are for.

- The tunnel into the chimney is a genuine overhead, however short. Go through one at a time, keep fins high and clear of the coral either side, and skip it if the group is not steady on buoyancy.
