Bo's Rainbow is a shallow island site in Triton Bay, rocky underneath and encrusted with soft coral gardens that hold large schools of fish. It averages around 16 m and sits sheltered enough that there is usually little to no current, so the dive is a slow lap of the rock rather than a drift. Colour, not depth, is why boats stop here.

The dive
The tender drops you onto the island's rocky flank and the dive starts straight away: the site averages about 16 m, so there is no deep phase to clear before the good part. Underneath, this is bare stone encrusted with gardens of soft coral, and large schools of fish hold over them. Depth is never the constraint here, so the profile stays flat and long, worked close in against the rock rather than out in open water.
Because the island is usually sheltered and carries little to no current, the route is yours to pick. When the current is weak it is sometimes possible to circumnavigate the entire island on one tank; when it is not, you work one side and turn back along it. Move slowly and watch the fish rather than the ground covered — the common species here, fusiliers and damsels among them, often show shades of colour different from the ones you would expect, which is what divers surface talking about.

Season follows Triton Bay: Liveaboards run Oct–Apr, with Nov–Feb the core season; the rest of the year is too rough on this exposed south-facing coast.
Know before you go
- Current is usually slight but not guaranteed; if it builds mid-dive the full lap of the island is off and you finish along the sheltered side.

Questions divers ask
How deep is Bo's Rainbow?+
It is one of the shallower sites in Triton Bay, with an average depth of about 16 m. There is no deep section to get out of the way, so the whole dive is spent in the coral-covered shallows.
Is there current at Bo's Rainbow?+
The island is usually sheltered and carries little to no current. When it is weak enough, divers sometimes circumnavigate the whole island on a single tank.
