Coco White

Coco White is a steep reef wall on the Anda coast, dived in two halves: guides list a north and a south section and run them as separate sites. It bottoms out at 24 m, and the interest is in what is stuck to the face: orangutan crabs, nudibranchs including the uncommon Halgerda malesso, and pygmy seahorses on the sea fans.
Also known as Coco White North, Coco White South.

The dive
Coco White is a wall dive and nothing more complicated than that: drop onto the reef, turn along the face and work it slowly. It is dived as two sites rather than one, a north section and a south section listed and run separately, so covering the whole wall usually means two dives. The face runs down to 24 m and the coral on it is in good condition.
The search image is small. Orangutan crabs sit in the coral, mantis shrimp are on the wall too, and the nudibranchs include Halgerda malesso, a species guides here point out precisely because it is not often found. Sea fans hold pygmy seahorses, frogfish turn up on the face, and turtles pass through. Keep half an eye on the blue as well: there is an outside chance of a Spanish mackerel, known locally as tanigue, out off the wall.

Season follows Anda: Nov–Jun is the main season; the south-west monsoon and typhoons make Jul–Oct unreliable on this exposed coast.

Questions divers ask
How deep is Coco White?+
The reef wall runs down to 24 m. Guides split it into a north and a south section and dive them separately, so covering the whole wall usually takes two dives rather than one long swim.
