İncirli Ada
Unbroken amphorae and an old iron anchor from a lost wreck
İncirli Ada's west face is a rocky slope in the Ayvalık islands where unbroken amphorae and an iron anchor from an old wreck lie at about 24 m. Between 24 and 28 m a stretch of rock teems with life. Divers come for the amphorae, a field that has thinned sharply since the early 2000s.
Also known as Incirli Ada, İncirli Ada Amforaları, İncirli Adası Batı Yüzü, Poyraz Island.

The dive
The dive starts at the island's shoreline on the west face and follows the rock down to the amphorae, which begin around 24 m. They lie unbroken, with an old iron anchor among them. Between 24 and 28 m the rocky ground is busy with life, and the face carries on down to 38 m.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s the amphorae here were too many to count. Their number has since dropped to the hundreds, so the field seen today is a remnant of what once covered this slope.

Questions divers ask
Are the amphorae at İncirli Ada still there?+
Yes, though far fewer than before: unbroken amphorae and an iron anchor remain at about 24 m, but their number has fallen from too many to count to the hundreds.
