Dreamland Housereef is the house reef of Hirundhoo Island in Baa Atoll, a wide slope that begins at about 3 m and extends down to 30–35 m. Divers get in from the shore or the jetty, currents are generally mild to moderate and visibility runs 20 to 25 m, which makes it a site any experience level can work at its own depth.

The dive
Entry is from the beach or off the jetty, so the dive begins in about 3 m of water and the profile is entirely yours to pick: down the slope to the depth you want, along it, and back up the same face to the exit. The slope is wide rather than steep and it keeps going to 30–35 m, so the deep end is available without being unavoidable, and turning shallow early costs you nothing.
Currents are generally mild to moderate, which means the reef can usually be worked in both directions and an out-and-back dive is realistic instead of a one-way drift. Visibility of 20 to 25 m keeps the shape of the slope in view while you are on it, so navigating by the ground rather than by compass works for most of the dive.
Because the exit is the same beach or jetty you entered from, the shallow end of the dive can run as long as you like. That is what makes the site useful for training, for photography and for new divers still working through gas quickly: the last 3 m of the slope is right next to the way out.

Season follows Baa Atoll & Hanifaru Bay: The Hanifaru aggregation runs May–Nov on the south-west monsoon and peaks Aug–Oct; Dec–Apr is calmer and clearer but the mantas disperse.
