Chanarian Reef is the shore-entry house reef off Chanarian Beach near Basco, the default dive in Batanes whenever conditions keep the boats in. A gentle slope of mixed coral with clownfish colonies and juvenile fish, it suits divers of every level and is a regular spot for hawksbill turtles.

The dive
From the beach the reef slopes gently from 5 m to 18 m over mixed coral, with anemones holding clownfish colonies and juvenile fish sheltering among the coral heads. Hawksbill turtles are frequent along the slope, and the current usually stays mild.
