Lengkuas Island
Coral gardens below a century-old lighthouse that still works

Lengkuas is the small outlying island marked by a century-old lighthouse that still works. Around it lie calm coral gardens from 5 to 20 m, with clownfish, parrotfish and moray eels on the reef and the odd sea turtle. It is one of the best-known dive and snorkel stops off Belitung, and an easy dive for newer divers.

The dive
The reef around Lengkuas runs from about 5 m down to 20 m in calm water, with colourful coral gardens and visibility of 15 to 30 m. Clownfish, parrotfish and moray eels live on the reef, and sea turtles pass through now and then.

Season follows Belitung: May to September brings calm seas and excellent visibility; October to March is the rainy season.
