Jeannie’s Glory is a reef built around a shallow sandy plateau, with reefs on either side and a wall beyond. It can be dived from a boat or, in calm water, from shore, and reef fish and the occasional barracuda draw divers down the sand flat.

Also known as Jeannies Glory.

The dive

Shore divers go in only when the water is calm, picking a path through large boulders and a rutted reef ledge. Below lies a shallow, sandy plateau, and the dive runs down the sand flat with reefs on either side holding a variety of reef fish. At the end of the sand flat the wall drops away, reaching a maximum of 30 m (100 ft). Bigger fish such as barracuda can be spotted along the reef.

Season follows Bonaire: The sea stays diveable all year; the water is at its coolest in late December and January.

Know before you go

  • Large boulders and a rutted reef ledge make the shore entry difficult; in high wave action another site is the better choice.

Questions divers ask

Can Jeannie’s Glory be dived from shore?+

Yes, but only in calm water. The entry crosses large boulders and a rutted reef ledge, so in high wave action it is dived by boat or swapped for another site.
