Daylit swim-throughs up to 30 m long at Cape Greco
Area photo: Fry72, Karel Frydrýšek · CC BY-SA 4.0
A shore dive among the tunnels and sea caves of Cape Greco, inside Cape Greco National Forest Park. The route stays between about 5 and 13 m, the swim-throughs are lit by daylight, and visibility is often over 20 m, which makes it a favourite with newly certified divers.
Also known as Caves, Cape Greco, Tunnels and Caves, The Caves.

The dive
The dive starts with a walk down a rocky path to the water's edge and a giant stride from one of two ledges, one about 1.5 m above the water and the other three metres. The route then follows the natural stone formations, between about 5 and 13 m, weaving in and out of tunnels and caves. Some of the swim-throughs run up to 30 m long, yet enough daylight reaches inside that no torch is needed.
Bream, jacks and lionfish are common along the way, and octopus, turtles and moray eels are also recorded among the rocks and in the caves. The dive can end back at the entry point, or through a second cave that opens at 2 m and leads up to the surface through the hole in the top of the cave, the exit the more daring divers choose.
