Cyclops Caves

A shore entry onto a cliff that runs down to 40 m

A shore dive on the border between Protaras and Ayia Napa where a cliff runs from 3 m down to 40 m, over rock, seagrass and sand. The quick access to depth makes it the best-known technical diving site in Protaras and a standard stop for guided dives and deep training on advanced courses.

Also known as Cyclops, Konnos Point, Cyclops Bay.

The dive

Entry is by giant stride or a seated entry from the rocks, then a small surface swim out to the descent point. The way down passes huge boulders, and the bottom is a mix of rock, seagrass and sand. The dive starts a few metres down at about 3 m and follows the cliff, which carries on to 40 m, giving easy access to depth straight from the shore.

The plan is to pick a depth and follow it around to the point, then turn back and shallow up gradually on the return leg. That flexibility makes the site a regular choice for guided dives and for courses, especially the advanced and master scuba diver programmes that combine deep dives. It lies on the border between Protaras and Ayia Napa and is the best-known technical diving site in Protaras.
