Fisheries is the most westerly dive site on Cayman Brac's north side, worked from a single mooring pin. A mini wall runs past two sandy chutes to a large pillar coral that tops out at 9 m over a reef floor at 15 m. Lobsters and stingrays are here alongside the usual reef fish — snapper, grouper and sergeant majors.

The dive
Drop at the mooring pin and follow the mini wall, passing two sandy chutes on the way. The wall is low and the whole site is shallow, with the reef floor at 15 m, so bottom time is generous and there is no reason to rush the transit. What you are heading for is a large pillar coral, topping out at about 9 m.
Around the pillar the site is a mix of coral and open sand, and that is where the life is: lobsters and stingrays both use the site, and snapper, grouper and sergeant majors hold over the coral. Coming back along the mini wall towards the mooring keeps you shallow the whole way, which makes Fisheries an easy second or afternoon dive rather than a deep-first profile.

Yes. The reef floor sits at 15 m (50 ft) and the pillar coral tops out at about 9 m (30 ft), so the whole dive stays shallow, and it is run from a mooring on the north side of Cayman Brac.
