A boat dive on a wall that begins on a shelf at 9 m, slopes down to 15 m and then drops away into open water thousands of feet deep. The upper face is cut with caves and crevices worth working slowly, and the recorded maximum on the site is over 45 m, so depth discipline matters more here than the distance you cover.

The dive

The site is reached by boat, and the dive starts shallow: you drop onto the top of the wall at about 9 m, where the ground slopes gently away. Following that slope down to roughly 15 m brings you to the lip, and from there the rock simply ends — the face falls off into water thousands of feet deep rather than stepping down onto another reef below.

Most of the dive is spent along the top few metres of the face, where caves and crevices break the wall and are worth working slowly. The recorded maximum here is over 45 m, so the sensible plan is to stay on the shallow shelf and treat the drop-off as scenery: keep an eye on the gauge whenever you swing out over the blue, since there is no bottom to stop you and the visual reference disappears once you leave the rock.
